First meeting of the Council on development of the National cultural-art and museum complex "Mystetskyi Arsenal" took place.

On June 16th, 2011 at Mystetskyi Arsenal, the first meeting of the Council on development of the National cultural-art and museum complex "Mystetskyi Arsenal" took place.

The meeting was opened by co-chairmans of the Council: the President of Ukraine 2005-2010.Victor Yuschenko and the  Minister of Culture of Ukraine Mykhailo Kulyniak, who unanimously affirmed in their welcoming speech that it is the  time to make decisions and take clear steps in the development of the future museum. The Mystetskyi Arsenal itself, according to Viktor Yushchenko, is one of the major projects that represent Ukraine in the third millennium.

At a meeting for members of the Council was proposed to review a general concept of strategy development of National cultural-art and museum complex "Mystetskyi Arsenal". The meeting was also attended by scientists who created the platform for scientific concepts: academician of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, philosopher Myroslav Popovich; Professor of History, Chair of History of  the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy Natalia Yakovenko; Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies Andriy Yermolaev; Kyiv Chief architect Serhiy Tselovalnyk and others.

During the discussion it was stressed once again that the Mystetskyi Arsenal is today a unique project, which is not indifferent to each figure of cultural, museum, political field of the state. The Mystetskyi Arsena undoubtedly will be a unique and innovative project for Ukraine and will be able to clearly present our country in the world.

Management of Mystetskyi Arsenal offered to introduce a model of horizontal partnerships for further development of the project. General Director Natalia Zabolotna stressed the key principles that form the philosophical vision and credo of Mystetskyi Arsenal as a modern museum institution. "Museum of today must be both a fortress for art and artistic laboratory. Museum in the current context – is a leader of innovation, which is based on a dynamic concept of art development. We believe that Mystetskyi Arsenal can become a cultural magnet of attraction and even a place of pilgrimage of Ukrainian, which will form anew cultural and tourist map of Ukraine and the world". The experts stressed that the strategic direction would be the development of the future museum as an attractive information and communication environment, so the primary emphasis is on modern technologies in the development of Mystetskyi Arsenal.

During the implementation of a project active public support will become important. With the proposal of spreading the traditions of patronage Chairman of the Charitable Foundation "Mystetskyi Arsenal" Olga Viieru spoke: "Today the Foundation opened a Program of corporate membership, Mystetskyi Arsenal Friends Club actively operates and fills up. The newly created museum already has a real social support. And this should be our joint initiative - Arsenal involvement of every citizen, from student to academic".

Despite the controversial moments during the debate, it was unanimously agreed that the Mystetskyi Arsenal as a museum of modern innovative format should harmoniously combine exhibition activity, education and training function, the function of preserving, restoring and enhancing the national cultural heritage. At the meeting of the Council on development of the NCAMC "Mystetskyi Arsenal" proposed concept was adopted as a basis for strategic development, comments and suggestions on it will be collected and processed.
